Default Sony Ericsson unveils UMTS P990 smartphone

London, October 10, 2005 ? Sony Ericsson emphasised its continued commitment to Symbian OS today with the announcement of its next generation smartphone to the global development community. The P990 will be the first commercially available smartphone to adopt the enhanced Symbian OS version 9.1 and UIQ 3 software platform. This flagship UMTS smartphone is Wi-Fi enabled, has a 2 megapixel camera with autofocus and features a new hardware keyboard beneath the flip-down keypad. The phone will start shipping during Q1 of 2006

thats going to be one hell of a phone
shit its got a 2mp camera and symbian uiq

if sony can play the price game carefully they can break nokia's back with such a phone

The p990 lacks EDGE. big big mistake by SE.

When u have Umts then there is no need for edge dude.
here in India we think edge as a big thing .
but worldwide edge is finished its the time of 3g , UMTS and mobile tv.
edge is finished .
So dont take that as a disadvantage .
Se can think what we all cant.
it has a 2mp camera becoz this phone is aimed at business professionals and not for funky people like us who want to click photographs here and there with the new 3mp camera right.
for eg p910i still hasa vga camera.
and still it is a hit.
